Jane Austen for Teachers is the Jane Austen Collaborative's digital humanities outreach program for PreK-12 teachers. We offer an immersive, collaborative, and project-based learning experience for educators who want to learn more about incorporating digital humanities projects into the classroom. Teachers who apply and are selected as Teacher Fellows can attend JASP and enjoy special teacher-centered bonuses, including meeting virtually before and in person during JASP to engage in teacher-centered discussions inspired by the program. Afterwards, Teacher Fellows will collaborate with program directors and digital humanities experts to explore digital teaching tools and begin drafting their own teaching resources that are tailored to their own classroom needs. Teacher Fellows will leave with fluency in new digital humanities tools, the opportunity to publish a collaborative project, and a draft lesson arc that incorporates digital tools into their classrooms.

Jane Austen for Teachers  is a program designed to build a tight-knit, collaborative group of fellow teacher-learners.

Before JASP

Teacher Fellows will meet virtually with fellow educators to discuss teaching goals and the symposium theme. As a teacher-centered program, we invite input from you about what you want to get out of this year's Jane Austen for Teachers.

During JASP

Teacher Fellows participate in all four days of the Jane Austen Summer Program. During the symposium, teachers meet to discuss ways to use Jane Austen in the classroom.

After JASP

Teacher Fellows can remain after JASP concludes to participate in digital humanities and pedagogy workshops, as well as to discuss, experiment, and engage with one another as a community. Expanding on the inspiring ideas that emerged during JASP, Jane Austen for Teachers invites attendees to begin creating teaching tools that can work in the classroom.
